This year’s UK Sausage Week ambassador is to be the celebrity chef, author, broadcaster and cookery school businesswoman Sophie Grigson.

UK Sausage week (UKSW) will return on Monday 29th October and runs until 4th November 2018, promoting all things sausage to help boost the trade over the all-important autumn season.

Sophie television debut first came in 1993 with the 16-part series Grow Your Greens, Eat Your Greens on Channel 4, which won her the Caroline Walker Prize in the Media Category. Having inherited a love of food from her mother Jane Grigson, herself a notable chef, she found she also enjoyed writing about it. Her articles started with the Sunday Express Magazine and she has since written regular columns for publications including the Evening Standard, the Sunday Times and The Independent.

Publisher of Meat Management magazine, which organised the annual UKSW, Graham Yandell, said he was delighted that Sophie will be part of celebrating UK Sausage Week this year.

He commented: “Sophie has always been one of my favourite chefs and several of her books can be found in my home collection. Sophie will join us at the UK Sausage Week Celebration Lunch at Plaisterers’ Hall, in London on 29th October when we will be announcing the winners of various categories in the annual competition, including the UK Supreme Sausage Champion Award.”
