As the 9th September ceremony approaches, finalists in some categories for the Meat Management Industry Awards 2021 have been revealed.

Hosted by footballing icon Kevin Keegan OBE, the Meat Management Industry Awards 2021 will be one of the highlights of the food industry’s year. Ahead of the ceremony, which will be held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, the finalists in some of the award categories have now been unveiled.

The Excellence Award

This award goes to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the industry and the category has a long history of worthy winners.

Finalists this year are:

Rachel Griffiths – joint managing director, Dalehead Foods

Dr Phil Hadley – international market director, AHDB

Rob Smith – UK market director, Danish Crown / Chairman PTF

Dr Fiona Roberts – technical supply analyst, Foods Connected

Young Manager Award

This award honours outstanding candidates who have achieved qualifications or made exceptional progress as a young meat manager and is someone who shows outstanding potential. This can be through an industry scheme or via a business that wants to recognise the progress of an exceptional individual.

The finalists are:

Callum Murray – commercial buyer controller – Farmison & Co

Jade Brewer – account manager grocery retail & manufacturing – Kepak Red Meat

Craig Henderson – shop manager butchery – Walter Smith Fine Foods

Joanne Harpin – technical manager – Freeman Catering Butchers

Britain’s Best Butcher’s Shop Award

Judging has now been completed and there are three finalists this year vying for the prestigious annual award:

Aston’s of Coven, Wolverhampton

Tim Potter Son and Daughter Ltd, Wellington

Dales Traditional Butchers, Kirby Londale

To attend the ceremony and black-tie dinner on 9th September, tickets and tables can still be booked here. Organisers say that tickets are selling fast since Covid restrictions were lifted and advise not to delay for those wanting to be part of this prestigious industry event.
