The Food Management Today Industry Awards product judging at Harper Adams Regional Food Academy concluded this week and the winners and finalists are now being selected, as the countdown to the prestigious awards ceremony and industry lunch with Michel Roux Jnr begins.

The venue for the occasion will be the five star Royal Garden Hotel, London, on 12th March 2020.

During the current campaign, for the product categories, the food industry was invited to submit products into multiple categories, including: Best Dairy Product, Best Bakery Product, Best Red Meat Product, Best Poultry Product, Best Frozen Product, New Product Development and Best Free From Product. The judges have reviewed everything from ice creams and cakes to roasting joints and steaks, breads, desserts and more.

Head judge Keith Fisher, CEO of the Institute of Meat, commented at the end of a busy week: “Once again this has been a very exciting competition. There has been a wide variety of products coming through, the majority of which have clearly been through a rigorous taste and cooking process before being submitted to us, and ultimately the end consumer. That makes our job even harder, but rewarding, as it signifies there continues to be increasing innovation and creative ideas out there by food manufacturers, large and small.”

Food Management Today editor and fellow judge, Pam Brook, added: “Being a part of the judging panel is a real privilege and every the variety and standard of the entries continues to climb. As well as flavour and product quality, I have seen some innovative developments coming through, which demonstrates the talent and imagination in the sector.”

Brook reminded readers that whilst the product judging categories are complete voting in the other categories remains open until the 9th December: “So, there is still time to cast your vote with categories open to find the Food Manufacturer of the Year, Best Ingredients Supplier, Best Machinery/Equipment Supplier, Best Trade Organisation, Food Retailer of the Year, Best Training Initiative and the accolade given to an individual in the industry, the Food Industry Champion Award.”
